One of the Major Pharmaceutical Company in Gujarat was facing severe issues related to Gas Scrubbing at their Plant. Due to frequent leakages from Mechanical Seal the Scrubbing System was facing a huge downtime for Maintenance resulting in increased Pollution to the Environment and bottlenecks in their other manufacturing  processes

Application Background

Gas scrubber are cleanings installations in which the gas flow is brought in intensive contact with a fluid which has aim to remove gaseous components from the gas to the fluid. Gas scrubber can be applied as emission control technique at various gaseous emissions.

Application: Caustic Scrubber

Concerns of the Customer

The Customer was using Centrifugal Pumps for Caustic Scrubbing application. Due to the Precipitates and Particles in Caustic Solution, the customer was facing the following issues

  1. Frequent Failure of Mechanical Seals in the Pump (Every 3 Months)
  2. Water Consumption for Constant flushing of Mechanical Seal
  3. Frequent failure of Bearings, Shaft & Shaft Sleeve
  4. Increased Maintenance of the pump due to which the Scrubbing activity was halted for elongated period of time resulting in Pollution
  5. Dry Running Issue

Our Solution

Based on the Application, the Team at HIS offered Vertical Immersible Pump for the Scrubbing Application

Value Created for the Customer

  1. Dry Run of the Pump was allowed
  2. Seal less Pump & hence all the issues related to Mechanical Seal for the Pump due to particles and precipitates in the liquid were resolved
  3. Zero Maintenance due to absence of Mechanical Seal resulting in Zero Downtime for maintenance
  4. Vertically Mounted  - Small footprint required for Installation of the pump
  5. In Tank and Out Tank Method both are possible

Result

The Installed Pumps are running without maintenance and cost incurred for Spares since the last 2 years. Based on the Excellent Performance of these Pumps, the customer has already replaced all the existing Centrifugal Pump installation with our Vertical Immersible Pumps
