Introduction

Oil-sealed vacuum pumps are dominant in the industries for decades. However, the proven advantages of dry vacuum pump technology bring a shift in the pharmaceutical, chemical, industrial, and petrochemical industries.

Dry vacuum pumps are versatile. You can control and operate them to do almost anything. Dry vacuum pumps offer an optimum solution, economic benefits, lower installation, running and maintenance cost, and above all, less environmental impact while providing a more flexible vacuum.

Let us differentiate between the dry vacuum pump and oil-sealed rotary vane vacuum pumps to understand the performance ratio of both. But before that, let us observe both types of pumps and their working principle.

Dry Vacuum Pump

Dry vacuum pump technology provides an apparent and calculable advantage in a wide variety of vital applications. A dry vacuum pump ensures that all the processing needs are attained, with a safe, reliable, and cost-effective solution. The dry vacuum pump works without water, no oil for sealing, and lubrication, thereby eliminating effluent generation, high treatment cost, and pollution. All this further helps to reduce waste disposal cost and maintenance costs.

Oil-sealed Rotary Vane Vacuum pump

Oil sealed rotary vane pumps are the most commonly used positive displacement vacuum pumps in the industry. As an established technology, they offer excellent reliability, compact design, robustness, and low-cost investment. They are often known as wet pumps as the pumped gas is exposed to oil for providing the seal.

Oil Sealed Rotary Vane Vacuum Pump

1.

Use

Process in which oil backstreaming is not needed, such as the Pharmaceutical and chemical industry. It is also used for distillation, degassing, sublimation, freeze-drying.

The process in which oil is used as Medical, laboratory, and industrial. It is also used for Evaporation, Freezer dry, packaging, woodworking, paper production, and printing.

2.

Operation

No lubricant or oil is used in this process and thus does not generate waste material

Oil is used to seal the pump and cool the vanes and thus generate waste material

3.

Orientation

Vertically mounted and hence, condensate drain out easily

Horizontally mounted and hence, difficult to drain out condensed water

Conclusion

In the end, we can see that a Dry Vacuum pump offers hygienic, 100% oil-free operation for the food processing, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries where no chance of contamination is allowed. With a compact design and whisper-quiet operation, it also has low operation and maintenance costs and is a good option as a green alternative. Our pumps come in standard configurations for quick and simple installations, and customized pumps as per client's requirements.
